Upcoming & Current Events for Artist-Printmaker:  Susan Talbot Hoffmann

Dear Friends,

We look forward to your participation in the upcoming “Friends Of Art Works” Exhibition in the Ameen Art Gallery at Nicholls State University. We greatly appreciate the donation of your art work for our Art Works fundraisers and your support of our students and our department. The “Friends of Art Works” exhibition will take place April 16 – 20. Your work must be delivered to the Department of Art Office (221 Talbot Hall) by Tuesday, April 10. The office opens at 8:30 and closes at 4:30.

Each artist may participate with one work of Art. (If your work is small - less than 12" X 12” - framed, you may participate with two pieces.) 2-D work must be framed and/or prepared to hang on the wall. 3-D pieces must be ready to place on pedestals.

In order to prepare for the exhibition we will need the following information for each artist. Name, title of your piece, medium, dimensions and price, or value if not for sale. (Proceeds of any sale will go solely to the artist.) Please provide the names and titles exactly as you wish them to appear on the gallery identification to be displayed with your work. We need this information by Wednesday, April 2.

An exhibition reception is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 on Wednesday, April 18 and we hope you will be able to attend. Friends and family are invited.

The Department of Art has already mailed our standard exhibition announcement to our mailing list of over 700. We have also printed special color postcards for “Friends” exhibitors. 15 exhibition postcards will be available to each artist to invite family and friends. These will be available for pick up at Old Estate Art Gallery (202 E.7th St., 985 447-5413, open Mar. 31, Sat., till 1pm) or in the Department of Art office (985 448-4597, beginning Wed. April 4). We will also prepare a press release and poster for the exhibition. If you have a good quality image of your work for the exhibition, please forward to jean.donegan@nicholls.edu so that we may begin posting your work and information about the “Friends of Art Works” exhibition on social media.

Thank you for your support of Nicholls Department of Art. Please feel to contact me with any questions.

Houma artist continues documenting her peers

A desire to celebrate the region’s culture as illustrated through local artists’ works
has led to the showcasing of two documentary film shorts in an exhibition at the
Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans.

Andrea Dupree’s “Art of the Bayou” films highlighting Darlene Eschete’s wildlife photography,
painting and activism and Joycelyn Boudreaux’s copper manipulation are included in the “A Woman’s Work”
exhibit through July 28 at the center, which is curated in partnership with Women in Film and Television Louisiana.

Currently in production are a series of experimental documentary shorts, filmed by Andrea Dupree, inspired by
South Louisiana, in the broadest sense of the term.  These are a production of "Art of the Bayou."
Susan Talbot Hoffmann has had one such short made of her, documenting her en plein aire painting in
Bois d'Arc Iris Garden, Schriever, Louisiana.  Click here to view.
